Villa Blanca is not for everyone. Many guests like to substitute this destination for a stay in Monteverde, and while this may work in providing the Cloud Forest experience, Villa Blanca is more secluded and quiet that the famous National Park region. This boutique resort near the town of San Ramon is located 60 minutes west of the San Jose International Airport, and is the ideal starting or ending point of a Costa Rica Honeymoon itinerary that is designed to visit the Cloud Forest.

True with the identity and philosophy of the Green Hotels of Costa Rica, a chain in which Villa Blanca is a founding member, rooms at the hotel do not feature TV services or in-room internet access. Cabins do not have A/C (not that it is needed) but they do feature fireplaces that are appreciated during the cool nights that are enjoyed in this mountain retreat year round. The hotel currently features a movie theatre with nightly screening of Hollywood favorites, an ample lobby with a bar and fireplace, an inviting game room and a classic hardwood restaurant featuring many Costa Rican favorites. There is a small spa with three treatment rooms that is scheduled for expansion. Other plans include an indoor swimming pool and more trails in the forest.

A one or two night stay in Villa Blanca is perfect for couples that wish to start their honeymoon in Costa Rica at a slower pace experiencing the fascinating Cloud Forest and its exuberant vegetation and wildlife without embarking on a trip to Monteverde. The hotel is ideal for nature loving couples that wish to experience a quiet start to their trip, perhaps experiencing some tours on horseback or the local canopy tour. The hotel excels at catering to honeymooners with rooms and services designed for a romantic getaway.
