An Affordable Honeymoon in the Rainforest and Beach
San Ramon Cloud Forest – Arenal – Tamarindo
7 nights / 8 days

Have a memorable Costa Rica honeymoon even on a limited budget! Our honeymoon in Costa Rica travel experts have designed this wonderful 7 night / 8 day itinerary to visit three regions of Costa Rica, giving you the opportunity to spend quality time at the Cloud Forest of San Ramon, the Arenal Volcano and the popular beachfront town of Tamarindo.  All hotels are four-star rated and offer a special combination of seclusion and excellent service to guarantee a pleasant stay.  This package offers the most popular tours in each area; however, these can be modified according to each traveler’s interests.  Room upgrades are available upon request.

Day 1: Arrival at San Jose International Airport. A contact person will meet you and take you to meet your driver.  Board the van for the hour drive to the Villa Blanca Cloud Forest Hotel & Spa.  Check into a Casita.  Free afternoon to enjoy the hotel.  This intimate and secluded mountain lodge is the perfect start to a romantic honeymoon, with its lush Cloud Forest, many adventures in nature, a small but quaint spa and cozy and romantic rooms.

Day 2: Early breakfast. Go on the signature Canopy Tour, one of Costa Rica’s top rated adventures.  See the ecosystem from within the treetops and the passing clouds. You will observe the exuberant flora and fauna while enjoying the canopy that hosts a variety of bird species. Experience the ultimate canopy adventure with seven platforms and zip-lines from 30 to 260 meters in length.  During the afternoon enjoy a guided hiking expedition into the hotel’s trails through the San Ramon Cloud Forest (optional tour).  Overnight in a Casita at Villa Blanca.

Day 3: Check out of the hotel. Board the van for a two-hour drive to the Arenal region. This beautiful drive will take you through the northern mountains to the San Carlos region, an area rich in agriculture, forests and cattle.  Arrive at Arenal and check into a Standard room at the Lost Iguana Lodge. Free afternoon and evening to enjoy the hotel and spa.  You may want to consider an optional visit to one of the many hot springs resorts in the area.

Day 4: Start your nature activities selecting one of the following signature tours in Costa Rica’s Adventure Capital:

Visit the Fortuna River Waterfalls, located about three miles from town.  Here, magnificent waterfalls cascade into the rainforest.  If you wish, you will have the opportunity to hike and swim in the river.

Go rafting on the Sarapiqui River. The river has Class III and IV rafting for adventure aficionados and the slower paced Floating Safari Class II for nature lovers.  Both are excellent tour choices featuring amazing scenery, interesting wildlife and thrilling adventure.

Try canyoning, one of the country's top adventure activities.  Rappel down five waterfalls inside the rainforest, truly, an unforgettable experience!

Experience the thrill of zip lining through the canopy of the rainforest on the Sky Trek and Aerial Tram, one of Costa Rica’s top canopy tours.   A great way to experience the rain forest and a real adrenaline rush!

Return to Lost Iguana Lodge for a relaxing afternoon and evening, or embark on an optional half day adventure.  Overnight in a Standard room.

Day 5: At your leisure, check out of the resort and board the van for the five-hour drive to Tamarindo.   This beautiful drive takes you around Lake Arenal into the town of Tilaran.  The drive will transfer you from lush rainforest to the tropical dry forests of the Guanacaste Savannah.  Drive through Tilaran and Canas and merge into the Interamerican Highway en route to Liberia, the capital of the Guanacaste Province.  Veer south past the towns of Filadelfia and Belen on your way to the Pacific Shores.  Arrive in Tamarindo and check into a Standard room at the Hotel Capitan Suizo.  Free afternoon and evening to enjoy the resort and the beach.

Days 6 and 7: Enjoy Tamarindo Beach and explore the Tamarindo / Conchal Region.  While in Tamarindo / Conchal (optional activities, not included):

Explore the beaches.  From Playa Langosta all the way to Playa Negra in the south, and Playa Grande, Playa Ventanas, to Conchal, Brasilito and Flamingo in the north.

Visit the Rincon de la Vieja National Park, and the mud baths and hot springs in the region.

Play golf at Hacienda Pinilla in Playa Langosta, or at the Reserva Conchal golf course at Playa Conchal.

Explore the native mangroves in Tamarindo on a sea kayaking tour.

Embark on a sunset cruise off the shore of Tamarindo Beach.  View spectacular sunsets on Costa Rica’s Pacific coast as you sail through Tamarindo bay.

Watch the giant leatherback turtles nesting during a special night tour only available from mid November to late February. This is a miracle of nature that can only be seen in select places around the globe, during a few months of the year.

Cross the border to Granada in Nicaragua and visit another Central American country while you are in the region.  This extended day tour will take you through southern Nicaragua, visiting Lake Nicaragua and the picturesque town of Masaya, home to many artisans.  The highlight of the trip is a visit to one of Latin America’s oldest cities, Granada. The colonial city is full of interesting architecture, colorful buildings and friendly people.

Overnight in a Standard room at Capitan Suizo

The package includes a romantic afternoon sunset cruise in Tamarindo Bay -- one of the most popular tours for honeymoon couples -- featuring spectacular sunsets and amazing views.
