Exotic Costa Rica is an 8-night / 9-day package featuring travel to remote regions of Costa Rica and is ideal for couples looking for an adventure- and nature-packed trip that is anything but ordinary. Accommodations are superb, including stays at award-winning resorts.  Featured activities and resorts include an overnight white water rafting trip in renowend Pacuare River, listed on the top three rivers in the world, followed by a stay in Rancho Pacifico, a luxury eco-lodge in Dominical, ending in sumptuous Hotel Punta Islita on the Pacific beach.

We planned this itinerary for the couple looking for an exotic honeymoon that provides luxury on the beach after days of heart-pounding adventure in the rainforest.  The deep-nature itinerary explores two of the most ecologically intense regions of the country – Pacuare and Dominical – and later takes you to the award-winning Hotel Punta Islita. This package offers many exciting adventures; and relies on local flights to cut down travel time and maximize the experience in each region.

Day 1: Arrive at San Jose International Airport. Clear customs and immigration, and then be met by a Memorable Costa Rica representative.  Board a transfer van for the 15-minute drive to the Hotel Grano de Oro, one of the city’s top boutique hotels, located just outside the downtown area, near the La Sabana Park. Check into a standard room. Take the rest of the afternoon to explore the city and consider one of the recommended restaurants for dinner in town.

Day 2: the driver and guides will pick you up to start the one day Pacuare River Class IV rafting trip.  Once at the river at the private put-in, you'll raft 16 miles deep in the heart of densely vegetated gorges, past gushing waterfalls, serene pools and pounding rapids, in one of Costa Rica's most impressive primary rainforests. On the river you will raft by the River Lodge, where guests stay on two and three-day trips. Intimate and charming, the lodge blends naturally into the forest on our 1,000-acre private reserve, with waterfalls and pools.

After an adrenaline-packed afternoon running rapids like Upper and Lower Huacas, Cimarron, Dos Montanas and many more, you will embark on the return drive to San José.  The road features remarkable views of Braulio Carrillo National Park and Irazú Volcano. Overnight in a Standard Room at Grano de Oro.

Day 3: After breakfast, check out and board the van for the transfer to the local airport.  Check in for the flight to Palmar Sur.  Upon landing the staff from Rancho Pacifico will meet you at the airstrip to transfer you to the resort. Check into a one bedroom villa.

Days 4 and 5: Enjoy your stay at Rancho Pacifico.  Explore the region on the guided tours available: Rain Forest Waterfalls Hike; Horseback Riding; visit to the Corcovado National Park and Cano Island; Jungle Walk. Overnight in a one bedroom villa in Rancho Pacifico.

Day 6: Check out of Rancho Pacifico and transfer to the Palmar Sur airstrip.  Take an early morning return flight to San Jose.  Arrive in time to connect to the flight departing for Islita.  After landing, the staff from Hotel Punta Islita will meet you at the airport. Board the van for the 15 minute drive to the resort.  Check into a Deluxe Room at Hotel Punta Islita, a Small Luxury Hotel of the World. 

Days 7 and 8: Enjoy the romantic atmosphere built into the design and services of this wonderfully secluded and isolated resort.  Punta Islita has been recognized by many experts as one of the top honeymoon spots in Costa Rica.  Overnight in a Deluxe Room in Punta Islita.

Day 9: After breakfast check out of the hotel and board the van for the short transfer to the local airport.  Check into the flight back to San Jose.  Upon landing, transfer to the International Departures terminal at the San Jose International Airport.  Arrive in time to check into the flight back home.
