This package takes you to three popular regions and features four and five-star properties that boast spectacular views from the guest rooms and common areas. If you dream of waking up to breathtaking scenery every day, this package offers some of the most picture-perfect rooms in Costa Rica. The itinerary takes you to three top areas around Costa Rica such as the Central Pacific Coast (beaches of Jaco and Herradura), Arenal Volcano and the beaches at Guanacaste, giving you the opportunity to enjoy activities in nature and luxurious pampering.
Please note that popular modifications to this package include selecting different room types in the hotels, exchanging Villa Caletas for a hotel in Manuel Antonio or Herradura Beach, substituting Arenal Kioro for another hotel in Arenal, and choosing a different beach hotel in Guanacaste.
Day 1: Arrival at San Jose International Airport. Exit the airport and board the van for the two hour drive to the Herradura / Jaco / Central Pacific Region. This beautiful drive will take you west of the Central Valley to the town of Atenas. Continue down the southern mountains of the Central Valley towards Orotina, home to some of the country’s top fruit producers. Continue towards the beaches of the Central Pacific; arrive in Herradura and check into a Junior Suite at Villa Caletas. Take the rest of the afternoon to explore the region and enjoy the hotel.
Days 2 and 3: Enjoy Villa Caletas and the Central Pacific Region. While in Herradura / Central Pacific (activities optional, not included):
It’s a must to visit Manuel Antonio and Carara National Parks. Observe spider and white-faced monkeys, sloths and iguanas; hike trails through the mangroves; and lounge on pristine beaches.
Sport fishing out of the Los Sueños Marina, home to some of the world’s best sport fishing -- boats with experienced crews and great service can be reserved on site.
Experience sea or estuary kayaking in the warm waters of the Pacific Ocean, and get a great workout at the same time!
Embark on a full day cruise to Tortuga Island. Enjoy fun and relaxation under the sun on as you cruise on a catamaran towards the white sandy beaches on the island. A succulent beach BBQ is served at lunchtime.
Enjoy an exciting open sea expedition in search for dolphins. Embark on a full day dolphin and whale watching tour in the deep blue Pacific Ocean waters off the coast of Manuel Antonio.
Explore the mangroves on an expertly guided tour. Traveling by boat presents a unique opportunity to spot the local wildlife in this unspoiled, pristine ecosystem. Expect close encounters with white-faced monkeys, sloths and many bird species.
Overnight in a Junior Suite at Villa Caletas.
Day 4: Free morning to enjoy the resort. Check out from Villa Caletas and transfer via van (3 and 1/2 hours) to the Arenal Region. Travel west along the beaches of the Pacific Central Region. Once you reach the town of Atenas, the driver will veer north towards San Ramon, the “Town of Poets.” Pass San Ramon and drive down the northern Central Valley mountains to the San Carlos flatlands. This is a region known for cattle production, forest industry and agriculture. Continue until reaching the town of La Fortuna and the Arenal Volcano Region. Arrive in the region and check into a Junior Suite at Arenal Kioro. Take the afternoon to explore the region and visit one of the hot springs resorts in the area.
Day 5: Explore the Arenal Region or relax at the hot springs. Our recommended activities in Arenal (optional, not included):
Visit the Fortuna River Waterfalls: About three miles from town, magnificent waterfalls cascade into the rainforest. You will have the opportunity to hike and swim in the river.
Go rafting on the Sarapiqui River: The River has Class III and IV rafting for adventure aficionados and Floating Safari Class II rafting for slower-paced, nature lovers. Both are excellent tour choices, featuring amazing scenery, interesting wildlife and thrilling adventure.
Try canyoning: One of the country’s top adventure activities, you will rappel down a waterfall inside the rainforest. An unforgettable experience!
View the forest from Hanging Bridges or the Sky Trek / Tram: Both are impressive hikes in the rainforest, and the Sky Trek features suspended bridges plus the aerial tram and the canopy experience. What a way to see the jungle!
Overnight in a Junior Suite at Arenal Kioro.
Day 6: Have a leisurely breakfast. Your driver will transfer you to Ocotal Beach in Guanacaste. This beautiful four-hour drive takes you around Lake Arenal into the town of Tilaran. The drive will transfer you from lush rainforest to the tropical dry forests of the Guanacaste Savannah. Drive through Tilaran and Canas and merge into the Interamerican Highway en route to Liberia, the capital of the Guanacaste Province. Veer south past the town of Guardia on your way to the Pacific Shores. Drive past Playas del Coco and check into a standard room in the renowned Ocotal Beach Resort.
Days 7 and 8: Explore Ocotal, known for its black sand beaches of volcanic origin, and for the spectacular diving and snorkeling tours. Featured activities in the Guanacaste Region are (optional, not included):
Enjoy a leisure boat ride down the dry tropical forest on a tour to the Palo Verde National Park.
Visit the Rincon de la Vieja National Park, and some of the mud baths and hot springs in the region. This tour can be combined with interesting tours on horseback in the rainforest and one of the country’s best canopy tour experiences.

Watch the giant leatherback turtles nesting during a special night tour, only available from mid November to late February. This is a miracle of nature that can only be seen in select places around the globe, during a few months of the year.
Cross the border to Granada in Nicaragua and visit another Central American country. This long day tour will take you through southern Nicaragua, visiting Lake of Nicaragua and the picturesque town of Masaya, home to many artisans. The highlight of the trip is a visit to one of Latin America’s oldest cities, Granada. The Colonial city is full of interesting architecture, colorful buildings and friendly people.

Day 9: Check out. Board the van for the 40-minute drive to the Liberia International Airport. Check in to your return flight.
