The design flow at Mawamba Lodge produces quaint and comfortable accommodations. Although not a beach destination property, Mawamba Lodge has direct beach access, an extremely favorable feature during turtle nesting season.
The 48 standard rooms at Mawamba are basic but comfortable. Due to the region’s constraints, the rooms do not provide air conditioning, TV or phone service. Modern amenities aside, this hotel offers a relaxing, rustic experience, with a cozy bar and sitting area integrated into its very nice pool, and an inviting restaurant. The hotel also features has a game room, guest welcoming area and kayak and boat rentals.
For those looking for upgraded accommodations, Mawamba offers four superior rooms, featuring king beds, spacious sitting areas, and deluxe bathrooms that include a hot tub. These rooms are as close to a honeymoon suite as we have been able to find in the region. While most hotels in Tortuguero are designed to accommodate groups, Mawamba Lodge is probably the best hotel catering to couples and families, with individualized services such as in-room amenities, private dinners and tours. |
