We highly recommend this hotel in the Tortuguero Region. Pachira Lodge has 83 tastefully decorated standard rooms. Amenities include a turtle-shaped pool located next to the canals, an inviting bar overlooking the jungle and waterways, a spacious and comfortable restaurant, and beautiful gardens.
The recently built bungalows steal the show and are a favorite for Costa Rica honeymoon couples and other tourists looking for a bit of luxury in this remote region. Set deep in the gardens, lush with greenery and showy tropical flowers and plants, the 30 wooden bungalows are airy and feature a private pool, restaurant and an exclusive spa. While Tortuguero is for nature lovers only and should not be booked by couples looking for a luxurious or "resorty" honeymoon in Costa Rica vacation, guests looking for wildlife and a close encounter with an exciting and exotic eco-system should consider staying at Pachira Lodge.
Pachira Lodge is located on the western side of the canals. While Pachira does not offer direct access to the beach, it does have immediate access to the forest. Visitors will be enchanted by the wide range of animals that visit the hotel daily. During a short stay, we were gratified when we spotted a family of spider monkeys playing next to the pool, a large iguana resting comfortably in a tree next to the bar, numerous butterflies and exotic tropical birds flying throughout the property.
Pachira Lodge offers two and three night packages with transportation to and from San Jose. It is advisable that guests plan the land / boat transportation in at least one direction to take full advantage of the Tortuguero experience and scenic views. The return can be done by air to expedite transfers and minimize travel times.
