There are many fascinating regions that couples planning a Costa Rica honeymoon vacation can consider visiting during their stay at the World’s #1 Ecotourism Destination. Most packages will combine a region inland, such as the Arenal Volcano, Monteverde or the Central Valley, with a beach destination such as Tamarindo, the Nicoya Peninsula or Papagayo.
The more adventurous couples will want to consider visiting the Osa Peninsula / Corcovado, and spending time in the south Caribbean Beaches. For the budget conscious, more affordable destinations such as Sarapiqui, Rincon de la Vieja or even San Jose may be the best alternative.
These are the regions in Costa Rica that offer an inviting combination of comfortable accommodations in hotels & resorts, tours and activities and are relatively easy to access by land, air or boat.
San Jose: The capital city. Ideal for those Costa Rica honeymoon couples with late night arrivals or early morning departures from the San Jose International Airport. Great base for cultural events, restaurants, nightlife and day trips.
Central Valley – Poas Volcano: Small, nature intense resorts located less than 90 minutes from the San Jose International Airport. Great for a 2 night stay in secluded and intimate hotels. Highlights are the Peace Lodge, El Silencio Lodge and Villa Blanca.
Monteverde Cloud Forest: Costa Rica’s quintessential Cloud Forest region founded by Quakers. Quaint mountain lodges, great hikes in National Parks, intense and mystic Cloud Forest experience.
Arenal – Fortuna: Costa Rica’s adventure capital, anchored by the country’s most famous active volcano and renowned hot springs resorts, led by the award-winning Tabacon Hot Springs. Outstanding region for Costa Rica honeymoon couples looking for adventures in nature, relaxation in the hot springs and outstanding spas.
Papagayo: Costa Rica’s beach luxury address. Home to the Four Seasons, the all inclusive Occidental Grand Papagayo and the Hilton Papagayo. Earmarked as the top area for tourism development in the country.
Tamarindo – Flamingo – Conchal: Costa Rica’s most popular beach corridor, in the western shores of Guanacaste. Hotels and resorts range from the popular beach town of Tamarindo to the magnificent Conchal development, to the recently opened JW Marriott in Hacienda Pinilla on Langosta Beach.
Tambor – Montezuma – Islita: the tip of the Nicoya Peninsula, the less visited route, with smaller hotels, more private and isolated beaches and probably more romantic and intimate than other Guanacaste destinations.
Manuel Antonio – Jaco – Herradura: wildlife, national parks, outstanding combination of rainforest and beach and tons of activities and adventure. Great destination for nature lovers that still want a more developed and urban destination.
Dominical - Uvita: Awesome rainforest small hotels with spectacular views and beach access. Ideal for widlife lovers, a "Corcovado Light" for those not interested in travelling to Osa.
Corcovado – Osa: Earth’s most bio-diverse place according to National Geographic. Best region for wildlife watching. Remote, isolated, nature intense destination with small, eco-lodges, personalized service and an overall unique and memorable experience.
Tortuguero: in the Northeast Caribbean region of Costa Rica. Jungle, wildlife, canals and the renowned home of three sea-turtle species that nest in the beaches of the park. Rustic accommodations but an overall outstanding opportunity for couples and families looking to appreciate nature.
